Abstract :
This muffler serves as a silencer from the engine to the allowable noise level. This research aims to find the best variation for the muffler. This research was conducted at the Automotive Lab of Jember State Polytechnic. The data obtained from this standard muffler test showed that the highest noise level at 1400 RPM is 67.4 DB, then the highest noise at 6500 RPM is 90db. The modified muffler testing obtained the highest noise value at 1400 RPM from the variation of 20cm inlet and 20cm outlet with a value of 68.6 DB. While the highest noise value at 6500 RPM from 20cm inlet and 20cm outlet with a value of 91.5 DB. Noise testing with muffler variations internal results in the longer inlet and outlet pipes the highest noisier exhaust sound. Keywords : internal muffler pipe, silincer, noise
