Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to (1) describe the role of agricultural extension workers in empowering farmer groups in Harjomulyo Village, Silo District, Jember Regency; (2) Analyzing the level of empowerment of farmer groups in Harjomulyo Village, Silo District, Jember Regency; (3) Analyzing the relationship between the role of extension and the level of empowerment of farmers in Harjomulyo Village, Silo District, Jember Regency. This research was conducted in Harjomulyo Village, Silo District, Jember Regency. The data analysis used to acknowledge the first and second research objectives was to use a Scale Likert?s Summated Rating (SLR), while to determine the third research objective, multiple regression analysis was used. The results of this study indicate that: (1) The role of extension that has been carried out by the extension worker in Harjomulyo Village, Silo District, Jember Regency has "played a role"; (2) The level of empowerment of farmer groups in Harjomulyo Village, Silo District, Jember Regency has been running well, it can be seen from the institutionalization of farmer groups that have been running in accordance with existing functions, skills and knowledge of farmers are increasing and increasing farmers' income; (3) The level of empowerment of farmer groups in Harjomulyo Village, Silo District, Jember Regency is significantly affected by the role of extension in education, dissemination, facilitation, consultation, supervision, monitoring and evaluation.
