Abstract :
Plastic is widely used in daily life, so the use of plastic in modern society experiences a rapid increase, because plastic has advantages such as strong, lightweight and stable, but difficult to decompose by microorganisms in the environment. One type of plastic that is often used is polypropylene plastic. This type of plastic can be utilized as an alternative fuel through a multilevel distillation process using a pyrolysis reactor which then goes through the purification stage. To test the calorific value and combustion rate of polypropylene fuel, researchers used additional variations of additive mixtures in the form of nitrox hot shots and prestone cleaner injectors with various mixtures. Nitrox Hot Shot is a methanol-based fuel additive, designed to process fuel combustion to make it more efficient to increase engine power and response. While the Prestone Cleaner Injector is a formulation material used to clean injectors and fuel intake systems. The testing parameters are carried out using a calorimeter bomb device, which is a device used to measure the combustion material or calorie power of a material. The combustion process is activated in an oxygen atmosphere in a fixed volume container which can then know the rate of combustion through the device. The test results were carried out at Brawijaya University Malang. From this research, liquid polypropylene fuel from distillation results can be concluded that the need for fuel can be used as an alternative fuel for motor vehicles .
