Abstract :
The United Nations (UN) members adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015. Since then, the SDGs have been translated into its members? official languages. This article presents a comprehensive review of the Indonesian translation provided by the Ministry of National Development Planning of the Republic of Indonesia (BAPENNAS). Recognizing the importance of accurate translations for effective communication and implementation of the SDGs, the article aims to review the Indonesian translation. By examining secondary data sources, including the UN document and the translation provided by BAPPENAS, the author employed Molina and Albir's (2004) translation techniques classification, to critically evaluate the existing translation?s techniques before determining to what extent the translation is accurate to its original text. The findings reveal several discrepancies, indicating the need for improvements. The analysis highlights instances where key concepts and nuances were not adequately conveyed in the translated version. Based on the analysis, the author concludes that a better and more appropriate translation of the SDGs document is essential. Moreover, to ensure consistency and effective communication across various stakeholders, the study suggests the adoption of a single, standardized translation to be used nationally.
