Abstract :
This paper discusses a technique translation used in an indonesian subtitle for Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) film produced by Sony Pictures. The aim of this research is to determine how the translator perceives the translation techniques used to translate the subtitles in the film into the target language, as well as their impact on translation quality in terms of precision and readability. Translation techniques are a means of conveying thoughts, in this case by using daily language and terms. This data used a descriptive-qualitative research as a method which applies a purposive sampling technique. This data was collected using a descriptive-qualitative research method that utilizes a purposive sampling strategy. There are 7 techniques applied in translating selected lines from the movie, such as Literal Translation, Particularization, Equivalence, Reduction, Discursive Creation, Borrowing, and Linguistic Compression. The translation technique that dominantly used by the translator is Linguistic Compression.
