Abstract :
This study aims to determine the role and strategy of the teacher as an effort to improve the discipline of students at SD Negeri 4 Tanjung Harapan. This study uses a qualitative research approach that relies on individuals as a primary data collection tool to provide descriptive data from people who are seen, both orally and in writing. The methods used by researchers are interviews, observation and documentation. The results of the study show that each teacher plays a role in improving student discipline. Like advising to teach children gently and repeatedly so that they can be understood by students. Some of the strategies carried out by the teacher in increasing student discipline, such as the teacher being used as a role model, carrying out the habituation process, exemplifying directly to children, teaching children about the importance of obeying rules, imposing sanctions for those who break the rules
