Abstract :
Transportation networks are often on the same horizontal plane and often intersect
with each other. This can lead to conflicts between traffic flows from opposite
directions, potentially causing congestion and accidents. Intersection performance
is a key factor in determining the most appropriate process for optimizing
intersection operations. Parameters used to evaluate the performance of
unsignalized intersections include capacity, degree of saturation, delay, and
queuing opportunities. The Rawahingkik Triple Intersection in Cileungsi District,
Bogor Regency, is an unsignalized three-arm intersection in a commercial area that
has high traffic flow during peak hours. This study aims to evaluate and improve
the performance of the Rawahingkik intersection by reducing congestion and traffic
conflicts. The evaluation was conducted based on PKJI 2023 guidelines and using
Vissim modeling software. Based on the analysis results, the performance of the
Rawahingkik intersection shows a degree of saturation of 0.89 with a delay value
of 16 seconds and queuing opportunities of 31% to 62%. Direct observation shows
a delay of 17.57 seconds and a queue length of 191.1 meters. Intersection
management with the installation of 2-phase traffic signals is recommended to
reduce queue length and the number of conflicts. This recommendation provides
more orderly traffic conditions and more organized queues, so as to improve traffic
safety and security at the Rawahingkik intersection.
