Abstract :
Hypertension is blood pressure where the systolic is as high as 165 mmHg or more while
the diastolic reaches 95 mmHg or more. Signs and symptoms that often appear in
hypertension are headaches, ringing in the ears, palpitations, fatigue, dizziness, blurred
vision, and nosebleeds. One of the non-pharmacological treatments is classical music
therapy. Classical music can affect heart rate and blood pressure depending on frequency,
tempo and volume, the slower the music tempo, the slower the heart rate and blood
pressure, so listen in a relaxed atmosphere. A slow heart rate also slows down breathing,
which reduces physical strain. The classical music taken is a type of mozart. The purpose
of this study was to determine the effect of the application of music therapy on blood
pressure in hypertensive patients. The author provides classical music therapy using
headphones for 15 minutes once a day for 3 days. The results of the application showed
that after giving music therapy for 3 days, the blood pressure decreased from 170/100 to
130/80. The author concludes that the application of classical music therapy has an effect
on reducing blood pressure in people with hypertension.
